A tragic accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway claimed nine lives and left three others injured in the early hours of Monday near Ayetoro.

The crash, which occurred around 5:30 a.m., involved a Toyota bus with registration number UYY165ZY and a stationary truck with number plate DKA244XC.

According to reports, the bus driver lost control due to excessive speed and fatigue before ramming into the truck.

Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the incident in a statement released to journalists.

She stated, “A total of 13 people were involved—10 male adults and three female adults. Sadly, nine were killed, comprising six men and three women, while three others sustained injuries.”

The injured victims were rushed to Famobis Hospital in Mowe for treatment, while the deceased were taken to Idera morgue in Sagamu.

Reacting to the incident, the Sector Commander expressed concern over reckless driving, particularly the failure to observe speed limits and rest regulations.

He urged drivers to adhere to safety guidelines to prevent further tragedies.

The families of the victims have been advised to contact the Mowe Unit Command for further information.
