PDP Wins all 30 LGAs in Osun council polls

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has secured a sweeping victory in the Osun State local government council election, winning all 30 local government areas (LGAs) in the state.

The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) announced the results on Sunday, confirming PDP’s dominance in the contest.

The election, held on Saturday, saw the ruling party clinch all chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state.

Speaking on the outcome, OSIEC Chairman, Mr. Segun Oladitan, described the election as peaceful and credible, commending voters for their orderly conduct. He stated that the electoral body ensured transparency throughout the process.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, while reacting to the landslide victory, expressed gratitude to the people of Osun State for their overwhelming support for the PDP.

He described the win as a testament to the party’s popularity and commitment to grassroots development.

“This victory is a reflection of the trust our people have in the PDP’s leadership. We will continue to work for the progress of Osun State and ensure that democracy thrives at the local government level,” Adeleke stated.

Meanwhile, the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) had earlier boycotted the election, describing the process as illegal and unconstitutional.

The party argued that conducting the election under the present arrangement contravened legal provisions and vowed to challenge the outcome.

Despite the APC’s stance, PDP supporters across the state trooped out in celebration following the announcement of the results.

Political analysts believe the victory further solidifies PDP’s stronghold in Osun State, following Governor Adeleke’s triumph in the 2022 governorship election against the APC.

With the newly elected local government officials set to assume office soon, expectations are high for improved governance and development at the grassroots level in Osun State.
