
An Ogun State High Court sitting in Abeokuta, has convicted and sentenced three persons to d3ath by hanging for killing a staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), his wife and their only son.
It would be recalled that Kehinde Fatinoye, a former staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) his wife, Bukola Fatinoye and son, Oreoluwa, were k!lled on the first day of Year 2023.
The convicted men trailed the couple home from at the Christ Anglican Church Iporo-Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State where they attended the 2022/2023 crossover service.
The men, led by Bukola’s driver, arrived at the semi-detached apartment where the couple lived and k1lled them.
After committing the act, the set the building on fire to hide any evidence.
The couple’s son, Oreoluwa, and their house help, Olorunyomi Felix, whom they adopted, were tied with ropes and thrown into the Ogun River by the convicts.
The couple had lost their younger son in June of 2022, while playing football.
The presiding judge, Justice Basirat Adebowale, sentenced the trio of Adekambi Lekan, who was Bukola’s driver; Odetola Ahmed and Adeniyi Waheed, to de@th after delivering a judgement which lasted for more than three hours.
Others arraigned with the convicts were Fadairo Temitope (wife of the first defendant); Adekambi Adenike, the mother; Owolaja Aanuoluwapo; Usman Azeez, Abass Odetola and Adewusi Lukman.
They faced a 24-count charge, including conspiracy to commit armed robbery, conspiracy, m8rder, arson, escape from lawful custody, perverting the course of justice, and receiving stolen property among others.
Justice Adebowale held that the convicts did not deserve mercy which their lawyers pleaded for considering the manner in which they k!lled the couple and their only son.
The presiding judge convicted and sentenced the first, second and third defendants of counts one to nine, handing them d3ath by hanging or lethal injection, life imprisonment with hard labour, 14 years imprisonment among others.
The wife of the first defendant, Lekan was also convicted and sentenced to four years in prison for count 12 and 14, which will run concurrently.
Adebowale discharged counts 12, 13 and 14 against the mother, but found her guilty of count 15 with a one year imprisonment from the day of remand.
