A 38-year-old TikToker, Destiny Ekhorutomuen, has been traced and apprehended after posting a video that a certain Deputy Commissioner of Police of a state who threatened him had been arrested for supplying arms to bandits.
He claimed in the video that went viral that the said senior officer wanted to shut him up but was later found to be involved in banditry.
The picture of the so-called senior police officer happened to be that of a man impersonating police some time ago.
In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Muyiwa Adejobi revealed that Ekhorutomuen was apprehended by the National Cyber Crime Centre in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area, Edo State.
“On December 8, 2024, operatives of the Force apprehended Destiny Ekhorutomuen for allegedly creating multiple social media accounts to disseminate false and inciting material designed to provoke the public against the Nigeria Police.
Citizens are reminded to exercise caution and responsibility in their use of information, as the peace and unity of the nation depend on it,” he said.
When Destiny Ekhorutomuen was paraded before newsmen, he claimed he did not know that the information was not true at the time.
