Support us, Red Cross pleads with Nigerians

Governments at all levels and well-meaning citizens have been urged to increase their moral and financial support for the Nigerian Red Cross Society.

The Branch Chairman, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Ogun State, Dr. Ibrahim Jide Bello, who made the plea at the 2024 Annual General Meeting of the Society held in Abeokuta on Thursday also commended members in Ogun State for their unity of purpose and robust support.

“This past one year has been a testament to the selflessness, commitment and unwavering dedication of every individual in this assembly. We have navigated obstacles, and achieved milestones that would not have been possible without your sacrifices, donations and contributions”.

Dr. Bello asked members to set bigger goals, embrace innovations and engage youths more in the new year 2025.

Delivering the annual report the Branch Secretary, Mr. Taye Ajayi Ezekiel enumerated giant strides taken during the out-going year to include courtesy visits, youth engagements, training for some students of Babcock University among many others.

Declaring the AGM open, National President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Prince Oluyemisi Adetayo Adeaga represented by Comrade Yinka Fasina urged members to redouble their efforts  to make all twenty divisions of Ogun State more vibrant whilst improving fund raising activities.

Also speaking, a former National Legal Adviser of the Society, Mr. Bola Bayo-Solarin, commended the Dr. Jide Bello led exco for the feat of holding the first non-elective AGM in the last 13 years.

He encouraged members to intensify their revenue generation efforts adding that “Red Cross is both a beggar and Oliver Twist because of its numerous humanitarian services in the society.

He charged members to improve their networking capabilities by being more resourceful and deeper in strategies.

During simulation of rescue efforts, citizens were taught various skills on CPR, wound management and handling fractures.
