Philip Shaibu, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State, has expressed his happiness on Tuesday at witnessing Monday Okpebholo’s swearing-in as the new governor of the state.
Shaibu extended his best wishes, hoping that Okpebholo’s leadership would bring growth, development, and prosperity to Edo State.
Okpebholo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), succeeds Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after winning the recent governorship election.
Okpebholo’s victory came after a contest with PDP’s Asue Igghodalo and Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Shaibu described the inauguration as a historic moment for Edo State.
“Today, November 12, 2024, marks a historic milestone,” Shaibu remarked.
“I am honored to witness the swearing-in of Senator Monday Okpebholo and Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa as Governor and Deputy Governor.”
Shaibu expressed confidence in the new administration’s ability to bring transformative growth and praised Okpebholo’s dedication to excellence.
He also thanked the people of Edo for their support during his own tenure, saying, “Your support fueled our leadership.”
Shaibu closed with heartfelt congratulations to Governor Okpebholo and Deputy Governor Idahosa, wishing them wisdom and success in their new roles.
