New Curriculum: FG wants every student to graduate with two skills
The Federal Government has announced that under the new curriculum set to be implemented for Basic and Senior Secondary Education in Nigeria, every student will be required to graduate with at least two skills.
This was revealed by the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, during the 68th National Council on Education (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
Themed “Innovation, Digital Technology, and Entrepreneurship: Tools for Educational and National Development in the 21st Century,” the meeting highlighted the importance of integrating knowledge, skills, and values into the education system. Professor Mamman emphasized that the new curriculum is designed to ensure that students acquire practical skills that will help them actively participate in the economy and lead productive lives.
He also addressed the urgent need for curriculum reform, noting that rapid technological advancements are disrupting industries, including education. Without adaptation, Nigeria’s current educational framework risks becoming outdated.
