Former U.S. President Donald Trump sparked fresh controversy on Monday, October 7, 2024, when he stated that illegal immigrants were bringing “bad genes” into the country.

The comments were made during an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, where Trump doubled down on his long-standing hardline stance on immigration.

Trump claimed that the influx of immigrants was introducing undesirable genetic traits, saying, “We got a lot of bad genes in our country right now.”

These remarks have drawn widespread criticism, with many accusing the former president of promoting harmful and discriminatory views that echo eugenicist ideologies.

The White House quickly responded, condemning Trump’s comments as “hateful” and “disgusting.”

Immigration advocates also voiced their outrage, warning that such rhetoric could further polarize and inflame tensions surrounding immigration policy.

This is not the first time Trump has been accused of making inflammatory statements about immigrants.

Throughout his political career, he has frequently used divisive language, particularly on the campaign trail, to rally his base around strict immigration controls.
