A father of nine, identified only as Charles, has tragically taken his own life following an alleged marital dispute in the Jeddo community of Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State.
According to reports from the Nigerian Tribune, the incident occurred on Monday, October 7, 2024, around 3:30 p.m.
Charles is said to have ingested a poisonous substance, suspected to be Sniper, at his home.
He then went to his in-laws’ residence in Ugbokodo to pass away.
Sources revealed that Charles was a Jeddo Community Vigilance group member, responsible for maintaining local security.
It is believed that his suicide may have been triggered by personal issues, including his wife’s abrupt departure after a heated argument.
Despite efforts by Charles and their mutual friends to resolve the dispute, his wife reportedly declined to return.
SP Bright Edafe, spokesperson of the State Police Command, stated that the police had not yet been formally notified of the incident.
