The father of a 14-year-old girl, who was splashed with acid near her school in the United Kingdom, has shared pictures of her injuries as he appealed for donations.
The distraught father, Corey McFarlane, revealed that the attack took place on September 30th near Westminster Academy.
The young girl was left with severe, life-changing injuries that require urgent and long-term medical care.
Mr. McFarlane expressed his heartbreak over the incident, stating that words “cannot express the shock, pain, and trauma” his daughter is enduring.
He emphasized that the injuries not only affect her physically but have also caused immense emotional damage.
To help cover the costs of her treatment, surgeries, rehabilitation, and mental health support, Mr. McFarlane launched a fundraiser and called for donations from the community.
He added that any financial support or simply sharing the fundraiser would make a significant difference in their lives.
The acid attack, which was carried out by a masked individual, also left a boy and a school staff member injured.
The Met Police confirmed that they are treating the girl’s injuries as potentially life-changing. While no arrests have been made, authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage to assist in the investigation.
Westminster Academy was closed for a day following the incident, with its principal, Numera Anwar, describing it as a distressing event.
The school is offering support to those affected, and local authorities are working closely with the police to ensure justice is served.
