24-year-old welder electrocuted in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the tragic death of a 24-year-old welder, identified as Adedeji, who was electrocuted while working at a renovation site on Nnamdi Azikiwe Street, Lagos Island.

According to a statement by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Adedeji was hired by his brother to work on the second floor of a two-storey building under renovation.

While working, Adedeji accidentally came into contact with a live electrical wire, which resulted in severe burns to both of his legs. The force of the electrocution flung his body to the first floor.

The incident was reported to the Adeniji Adele Police Division by the complainant who had offered the job. Officers from the division visited the scene and confirmed the details.

Photographs were taken, and Adedeji’s body was taken to Yaba General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His body has been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy as investigations continue.
