A lady, Yassu Brandhorst, who has been living in Australia for 8 years, has returned to her home country, the Netherlands, after failing to secure a permanent visa.

Brandhorst announced that she was heartbroken to break up her eight-year love affair with Australia in an emotional TikTok video on her page, @yasshappylife.

She posed with her hand luggage as she caught a last glimpse of Australia.

Despite her deep affection for Australia and its lifestyle, @yasshappylife expressed frustration over the challenges she faced in obtaining a permanent residency.

She wrote:

“Why I have been quiet on here is because a lot has been happening. I have had to pack up my whole life and move back home and give up on my dream life after 8 years.

“The last weeks I have been trying to smile through the tears, but I am still trying to comprehend how everything has changed.

“It feels like a breakup I never wanted to happen ❤️‍🩹 I think everybody on here could see how much I loved this country and how I tried to romantisize everything it had to offer , but there is just one thing I hate about it and that’s how hard they make it for some people to stay that don’t do anything wrong, work their ass.es off and contribute to society.”

Responding to a question in the thread, she said her profession did not fall on the list of preferred professions, which made it difficult for her to secure a Permanent Residency status.

Others with similar experiences have been expressing the same sentiments in her comment section. Some advised her to try other countries with more relaxed immigration rules.
