Two men who specialised in harvesting the heads of buried human bodies have been arrested after they were found with a human head exhumed from a grave at Amuloko Area in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The men confessed that they were in the business of harvesting body parts of buried people and were paid N5000 for a human head.

Mustapha Bello and Damilare Oladele, were apprehended by officials of the Western state security network popularly called Amotekun Corps.

Nigerian Tribune reported that the men were stopped and interrogated in the early hours of Monday by a night guard who saw them carrying a bag.

Bello, who was carrying the bag containing the human head reportedly struggled with the security man who wanted to see what was inside the bag. In the process, Oladele got a chance to escape.

Upon sighting the contents of the bag, Bello was subdued and handed over to Amotekun for investigation.

The news of the arrest travelled fast via social media as people exchanged the video recording of Bello when he was caught.

A law enforcement agent who knew the closeness of Bello and Oladele immediately suspected Oladele to have been the accomplice who was said to have escaped when Bello was arrested.

The security man went after Oladele to challenge him in the evening of the same day.

The altercation attracted a crowd who resorted to beating Oladele, leading to his confession to the crime and his ultimate arrest by Amotekun.

Bello, a 32-year-old carpenter, told Sunday Tribune that one Saheed introduced him to the business.

According to him, Saheed who worked as a security man took him along for one operation after he complained about not having money.

He said when they got a grave site at Ita Ege about 1am, he told him they were there to cut the head of a buried body.

He said they used a cutlass and their hands to remove the soil on the body and severed the head before returning the body to the grave.

He said Saheed used to sell the heads and gave him N5,000 as his share.

Bello said he went to the botched operation with Damilare Oladele before he was caught.

Oladele, who lived in Oranyan in Ibadan said he was a barber. He claimed certain Mustapha Bello invited him to the business.

He said Bello asked him to come along and told him about the business. When he asked about the smell, he said Bello told him they would go for a dry one, a body that had been buried for a long time and would not smell like a fresh body.

He said he was promised N5000. He said he had done business with Bello five times and was paid that same amount, except once when they went for a fresh head and he was paid N10,000.
