A chemist, Manniru Mai at Jaba in Fanisau, Unogo Local Government Area of Kano State, has been accused of r@ping a 9-year-old girl, Rumaisa Sadiq, to death.

The father of the deceased reportedly took the girl to the chemist for treatment for malarial fever.

The suspect, in the course of administering treatment to the child, allegedly took advantage of her and ended her life in the process.

He is now facing trial for the offence, and many interests have stood up to ensure that justice is served in the case.

Kano State Commissioner of Women Affairs, Disabled and Children, Hajiya Aisha Lawan Saji Rano, is one of those interested in getting justice for the deceased.

In a statement she released through her Director, Public Enlightenment, Aishatu Haruna, the commissioner said Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration would follow up on the matter to ensure that the culprit was punished to serve as a deterrent to others.

The statement said efforts to thwart justice would be resisted.

During a condolence visit to the family of the bereaved, the Commissioner said it was tragic that a little girl lost her life simply because someone chose to display his animalistic instinct on her.

She said quick dispensation of justice was necessary to serve as a lesson to others.
