Armed bandits have reportedly abducted 20 medical and dental students in Benue State.
The medical students from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos were travelling when they were ambushed by gunmen around the Otukpo area of the state on Thursday evening.
They were going to attend the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu.
The state police spokesperson, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Friday morning.
A list of the 20 medical and dental students and a House Officer, allegedly kidnapped by the bandits have been released.
It is not certain if the name of the driver of the vehicle conveying the students is part of the list.
