A student of Kwara State University (KWASU) faces possible expulsion from the institution after a skit went horribly wrong.
The student got a friend to film the reaction of a lady in hijab as he touched her while they both waited in line in a telecom office.
The lady stood up from where she sat and went to another seat. The male student followed her and sat two seats away from her.
The lady later returned to her original seat and this male student also returned to his former seat.
He then proceeded to touch the lady on the shoulder, prompting her to stand up and complain loudly, drawing the attention of the staff of the telecom company and others in the room.
The outrage that attended has forced the student to pull it down from his TikTok page @Olamilekan23000.
However, the authorities of KWASU have already waded in and condemned the poorly conceived skit.
The institution said the skit depicted inappropriate contact with female students and does not align with the institution’s values or the ethical standards upheld by the majority of KWASU students.
“KWASU prides itself on producing well-rounded graduates who excel both in character and academic learning. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of indiscipline,” the statement read.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has taken immediate action by disabling the student’s portal access pending a thorough investigation by the Student Disciplinary Committee.
This decisive move underscores the institution’s commitment to upholding its core values and ensuring that all students adhere to the highest standards of conduct.
Professor Jimoh reiterated the university’s dedication to promoting decency and ethical behaviour, aligning with the values championed by all religions.
“We will not condone any actions that compromise these fundamental principles,” he asserted.
The university community and the public have been urged to await the outcome of the investigation, which will determine any further disciplinary measures. KWASU remains steadfast in its mission to foster an environment of integrity, respect, and academic excellence.”
