‘This is Northern Ghanaian tradition’ – Ghanaians explain viral video of lady blocking groom from dancing with his bride at their wedding

Some Ghanaians have provided context for a trending video of a lady blocking a groom from accessing and dancing with his bride at their wedding.

The video sparked serious outrage on social media with many suggesting that the lady should have been carried off the venue or disciplined for constituting herself into a nuisance.

In a series of tweets, Ghanaians say what transpired is part of the tradition of Dagombas who are from the Northern area of Ghana.

According to one of the tweets, a groom’s cousins are regarded as his ‘’wives’ and during a wedding ceremony, the cousins display such an act just to make the bride know she is ‘’stealing’ their husband.
