NAPTIP looks for parents who uploaded obscene pictures of their underage girl on Instagram
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons said it is looking for the people who uploaded obscene photos of a girl believed to be not more than five years old on Instagram.
The agency is reacting to an outcry on social media following the upload of inappropriate pictures of the girl on an Instagram page.
Among the photos was a flyer announcing a “Birthday Bash” for the minor on May 28, 2024, at Spring Leaders Montessori School in Auchi, Edo State.
A user by the name of Miss Ezeani called NAPTIP’s attention to photos shared on the Instagram accounts @officialsarah_ig and @black_sherriff_justice.
She wrote: “This is a call for help! I just went through this baby’s Instagram page and I am beyond shattered. I don’t know where to begin.
“The men that have her are most definitely peddling her for sex. This baby is nothing more than five years, yet there’re many pictures of her in adult places; pictures of her in thongs, pictures of her in hotels, pictures of her in suggestive positions.
“Please, anyone with the right authorities to get hold of these men, tags, anything. This is beyond “reporting their pages”, that baby is in danger! Whatever is happening to that child is happening offline and so it’s not enough to just report the page. Please retweet, tags, get this absurdity in front of the right authorities.”
NAPTIP replied on it’s X account, “Thank you all for bringing this obscenity to our attention.
“This is Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) which is a crime! We are working on contacting Meta to bring down the accounts while we track the offenders.
“We urge the public to desist from further sharing unsanitised pictures of this child; you are adding to the problem by aiding the distribution of CSAM which is also a crime! Thank you all.”
