A homeless man, Leandro Kaienga, 28, is appearing at Willesden Magistrates court today for the murder of Okechukwu Iweha in front of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 7, 2024.
Kaienga is also facing a charge for the possession of a knife.
It would be recalled that the police and paramedics were called to Northumberland Park on the outskirts of the stadium just before 6am on April 7.
Upon arrival they found Mr. Iweha dead with a number of stab injuries.
Efforts to revive him through CPR by paramedics proved abortive.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, from the Specialist Crime Command, at the time said: ‘I am urging anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to please come forward and speak with us.
‘We are working hard to build a timeframe to establish what has happened.
‘Were you woken up by a disturbance, or did you see anyone running from the area?
‘I would ask that you check any private CCTV or dash cam footage to see whether you captured anything that might assist us.
‘Another family has been left grieving and we are doing everything we can to find answers to their questions and locate whoever is responsible for this murder.’
Tottenham Hotspur’s fixture against Nottingham Forest on the day went ahead as planned and the club posted on X: ‘Following an incident in which an individual has lost their life, we are doing everything to accommodate the ongoing Police investigation, which is of the utmost importance.”
