Tope Alabi’s attempt to bad-mouth another gospel artiste’s song backfires (Video)
An attempt by popular gospel artiste, Tope Alabi to bad-mouth an increasingly popular track of a fellow gospel artiste, Adeyinka Alaseyori, has landed her in serious trouble with Nigerians.
Tope Alabi, while ministering at a vigil in the early hours of June 12, criticized a term a fellow gospel singer, Adeyinka Alaseyori, used in hailing God in her hit track, ‘Oniduro mi’.
In the very popular song that has been used at concerts by more accomplished singers, including Sola Allyson, Adeyinka referred to God as “Oniduro” (Guarantor). The song expresses gratitude to the only guarantor that will not complain, run away or abuse you.
Tope disagreed that God can be called ‘Oniduro’ and publicly criticized the song and the singer.
In a video of the vigil that has now gone viral, she claimed to also love the song, but that when she wanted to sing it one day, the Holy Spirit asked her to keep shut.
Reactions have been swift from members of the public, many of who believe the popular singer is envious of the soar-away success of that particular song from an unknown up-and-coming gospel artiste.
Many also argued that even if she had any reason to criticise the song, she should have done it privately to the singer, and not publicly try to kill a rising star.
