Lady recounts the shame of botched wedding after selling aso ebi, paying for venue, decorations, others (Video)
A lady has taken to social media to recount the pain and trauma her family went through after the prospective husband of her sister called off the wedding only a few days before D-day.
The lady, with the moniker, JoyGlazeEmpire on TikTok, said her sister was already pregnant for the man while the preparations for D-day were in top gear.
She recalled that out of the blue, the family of the would-be groom sent a message that they would love to halt the plan till the pregnant bride put to bed.
She said the efforts to obtain more information on the sudden change of heart were abortive and the family had no choice other than to lick their wounds.
Joy said the situation threw her mother into depression, arising from the shame of having to tell people the wedding would no longer take place.
She said her mother had already sold “aso ebi” to many people and now had to be explaining to everyone that the ceremony had been postponed.
She showed the souvenirs already purchased with the pictures of the couple printed on them, wedding invitation cards already printed and drinks already bought for the botched event.
She said some of the items purchased were taken back to the market to sell, but some of the drinks could not be resold.
She recounted that the hall for the reception had also been booked, cows bought, caterers paid and many professionals who were to play different roles at the event had been engaged.
According to her, the bride cried so much that she developed high blood pressure, with her two legs swelling up.
Joy said that to this day, the family of the groom, based in Delta State, has refused to disclose the full reason for their action. She cursed the groom and his family for putting her family through so much pain and anguish.
Her sister has since delivered a bouncing baby boy out of wedlock.
