A young doctor has narrated how she was almost strangled to death in a place of primary assignment in Akwa Ibom State on January 2, 2024.
Her senior colleague had earlier exposed the incident via X, lamenting that the young doctor was forced to work the very next day.
In her own account, the victim in a voicenote, said the assailant banged her door shortly after she returned from the hospital and she opened the door believing it was an emergency.
She said she saw no one and closed he door back only to hear a more violent banging on the door.
She opened it again and the man pounced on her.
He robbed her, tied an extension cord around her neck and strangled her till she passed out and he believed she was dead.
He raided her apartment of valuables and left.
Miraculously, the lady came round and managed to unlock the door after the assailant had departed.
Her neighbours got her to the hospital.
The Commissioner for Information in Akwa Ibom, Ini Ememobong in a statement said the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno has ordered an investigation into the alleged attempted murder.
