A South African lady, Loge Amahlako, has recounted how her wedding was ruined by a swarm of bees in Limpopo, South Africa years ago.
Amahlako was commenting on the marriage of a couple ruined by torrential rain and a massive flood in Johannesburg last Saturday, December 16 (Read here.)
While commiserating with the couple, Amahlako said their own was better because it was mother nature.
She said in her own case, it was a swarm of bees that descended on everyone at the ceremony, including their pastor.
Amahlako said that it was a devastating experience for her and her hubby, but the passage of time made it possible for her to share the story now and even laugh about it.
She said the incident happened about 17 years ago.
According to her, the swarm of bees stormed the occasion from nowhere and started stinging everybody.
“Pastor got stung and lots of other people. He was shocked as hell. It was a mess. I was rushed into a car. I couldn’t breathe while watching people running around like mad cows.”
She recounted that everybody, including the caterers, took off and that some people in their desperation to get away overturned some of the food containers, ruining the food.
According to her, the entire grand, well-planned event was ruined by the bees.
She, however, noted that the saving grace was that according to their tradition, they had successfully conducted one-half of the ceremony in her own family compound the previous day.
It was the second part slated for the groom’s compound that was ruined by the swarm of bees.
When someone suggested that it was spiritually instigated, she agreed, but disagreed with another person who suggested that it must have been instigated by one of her exes.
Amahlako said if that had been the case the bees would have visited them when they were conducting the first ceremony in her own compound the previous day.
She said it might have been one of the former girlfriends of her man.
“It was at my in-laws’ place. We were already married on my site the previous day with no problem” she said.
Someone suggested that the bees might be an omen about the future of the marriage, prompting another person to ask about the status of the marriage.
Amahlako said the marriage was still intact and they have kids.
