A trending video has shown how occupants of a mansion in Lagos were frantically evacuating their belongings from a beautiful mansion marked for demolition.

People can be seen moving out electronics, furniture and other items to beat a two-hour deadline to vacate the building before the scheduled demolition.

The person who did the filming said one tenant of the mansion only moved under a month after paying N1.7 million as rent.

Among those evacuating their belongings are some expatriates.

Microsecondnews had earlier reported that authorities announced that they marked 677 houses for demolition for contravention in FESTAC, with 744 others marked for partial demolition.

The houses were said to have been erected on government properties, or on water passage, and without any approval.

They claimed to have warned the developers at the time of developing the properties but they continued to build to completion.
