Four police officers in viral video ‘carting away’ ballot boxes arrested in Rivers State
The Rivers State police command says four security agents who were caught on camera carting away a ballot box in Igwuruta community in the state during the elections in the state on Saturday, February 25, have been arrested.
A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, today February 27, says the accused security agents comprising of one officer and three inspectors have been taken into custody and their pick-up van impounded. She said all electoral offenders will be adequately sanctioned.

Following a video which trended on social media and which suggested the involvement of some police personnel operating in a Pick-up vehicle with inscription “RRT 050” in alleged electoral malpractice, Rivers State Police Command has arrested and taken into custody one officer and three Inspectors for interrogation.
The police pick-up van in the trending video has also been impounded for thorough investigation.
The Command hereby assures the electorate in Rivers State of its unalloyed commitment to promoting the rule of law, and ensuring that all offenders found culpable are adequately sanctioned.
The Command urges all residents to remain calm and await official announcement of the result of the election.
