Abducted son of murdered CBN staff found dead with hands tied in river
Entire family now wiped out
Oreoluwa Fatinoye, the 25-year-old son of the couple allegedly assassinated on the New Year day in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has been found dead.
His corpse was recovered from a river along Adigbe – Obada road where it was thrown into by the assailants who abducted him after killing his parents.
With this development, the entire family of Mr and Mrs Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye have been wiped out.
The couple had lost their second son last July and were still mourning him, when assailants forced their way into their residence and snuffed lives out of them.
The hoodlums took away the surviving son, who has now been found dead.
Recall that the gruesome killing of Oreoluwa’s parents at their residence located within Ibara Government Reservation Area (GRA), Abeokuta, took place shortly after they returned home from a New Year cross-over service on January 1.
They were burnt beyond recognition with their remains later packed by policemen and health officials who visited the scene.
Oreoluwa’s mother worked at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), while his father was a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) staff.
The decomposing body of Oreoluwa was discovered floating on the river by fishermen on Tuesday morning, December 3, according to the Daily Trust.
The young man and the househelp were reportedly kidnapped by the assailants who later pushed them into a river along Adigbe – Obada area of the town. Both hands of the deceased were tied with a rope.
The police said the maid was rescued but the son could not be located in the river at the time.
A fisherman, Idowu Taiwo later found the lifeless body floating on the river while he was preparing for the day’s work.
He said: “On Monday, we heard that someone was thrown into this river, but this morning while we were preparing for work, the police approached us and pleaded with us to inform them any time we discover the body.
“But, this morning, around 7.30, we discovered the body while we were checking on our equipment in the river. I called someone to help us get the number of the PPRO to tell him that we have discovered the body.
“Not long after, the police came and we showed them the body after we had brought it to the river bank.”
