Twitter suspends comedian’s account after he uploaded video of himself flogging indecently dressed lady
The Twitter account of a Nigerian social media comedian has been suspended by Twitter after he uploaded a video of himself flogging an indecently-dressed lady.
Emenike (@emmydibad) usually uploads prank videos on social media. Many of such videos feature him accosting scantily-clad ladies.
In this instance, he uploaded a clip of his encounter with a lady who wore an orange top exposing huge portions of her breasts and a mini skirt that barely covered her bum.
The video shows him scolding the lady and telling her to return home to dress more decently.
The lady tells him off and in his attempt to resist her, she slaps him.
Emenike then gets hold of a whip and repeatedly flogs the lady, who then heads back home.
He later uploaded the video and it met with mixed reactions, with some supporting him and many others criticizing him for taking laws into his hands.
While the entire thing might have been scripted, many opined that the content is a promotion of gender violence.
Apparently, some Twitter users reported the content as such and Emenike’s account has now been suspended by Twitter.
The criticisms that trailed the video might have prompted the comedian to pull it down from other social media platforms.
Some comments on the controversial clip:
“Yungmania: This is harassment if you are supporting the guy then something is wrong with you.”
Yahya: “I wish Nigeria is full of youths like this, I like this guy for real”
Queen: “I don’t understand why he’s flogging her? Is he her elder brother or boyfriend or father?”
Momo: “I find this video distasteful and disturbing. I pray he meets a very violent woman someday. Nonsense!!!”
