One victim of kidnapping identified as Olorunsogo Oluwaseyi, has been rescued unhurt from kidnappers’ den in Ogun forest while two members of a kidnap syndicate, Umar Mohammed and Aliyu Mohammed were on Wednesday by men of the Ogun State Police Command working with other forces.
According to information released by the police, the rescue operation was conducted on the 14th of December 2022.
The policemen acted on information received by at the Ewekoro divisional headquarters that the kidnappers, who abducted the victim at Soyooye area of Abeokuta were sighted in a forest at the Onigbedu area of Ewekoro local government area.
On the strength of the information, the DPO Ewekoro division, CSP Sunday Opebiyi, reportedly mobilized his men in collaboration with so-safe corpsmen, hunters, vigilantes, and some youths of the community and stormed the said forest.
The kidnappers reportedly fired shots to scare the team, but the fire was returned and in the end, some of the kidnappers fled, while two were apprehended.
The victim, Olorunsogo Oluwaseyi was abducted in front of his house at the Soyooye area of Abeokuta at about 7:45 pm on the 12th of December 2022 by a six-man kidnap gang.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said some items were recovered from the arrested suspects, namely single-barrel gun with two live cartridges, two expended cartridges, a bag belonging to the victim and some clothes.
