FCT police find 13-year-old boy who absconded during shopping with his mother because he didn’t want to return to school

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have found a 13-year-old boy who went missing during back-to-school shopping with his mother at a popular supermarket in Area 11, Abuja on Sunday, September 11.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Josephine Adeh, who disclosed this in a statement said contrary to reports making the round on social media that the boy was abducted, the minor absconded because he didn’t want to go back to school.

According to the PPRO, the boy identified as Chivirter Gbileve was found by a surveillance team attached to the Garki Divisional Police Headquarters and has been reunited with his family.

“It’s no news that schools in the FCT will be resuming tomorrow, like every other parent would, Mrs. Patience Gbileve, the mother of the alleged missing thirteen (13) years old Chivirter Gbileve had taken her sons for a “back-to-school shopping when naive Chivirter Gbileve, who had initially expressed resistance in returning to school took advantage of his mother’s distraction while shopping, excused himself to the rest room, changed from the uniform he was wearing to civil wear and absconded.

“He has since been recovered by the Police surveillance team attached to the Garki Divisional Police Headquarters and has been reunited with his family.

“The Police have also commenced an investigation into what could have prompted the child’s refusal in going back to school to such extent as playing naughty.”
