Twitter user complained about collapsed Oniru ‘thin’ building four days before disaster (Photo, Video)

Twitter users have dug out a tweet drawing attention to the ultra-thin seven-storey building under construction at Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos four days before it came crashing down, killing at least 2 people.

On August 31, 2022, Twitter user, Kanmi took to the platform to complain about the building with a picture attached. He wrote:

“Pls how can we stop this unsafe Act before it’cause more problem pls whoever is in charge of safety in Lagos state the location is at Oba Idowu Oniru Street very close to the palace of Oniru”

From the picture, the owner of the structure apparently purchased a tiny slice of land and then proceeded to raise a seven-storey building that one observer commenting online claimed had no reinforcement columns.

In the early hours of Sunday, September 4, the building crumbled.
