NRC suspends Lagos-Kano and Ajaokuta train services over terror fears
The Nigeria Railway Corporation has suspended the Lagos-Kano and Ajaokuta train services over fear of terrorist attacks.
The NRC suspended services at the Ajaokuta station along Warri-Itakpe route due to the attack on some passengers by gunmen on Monday, August 1.
As for the Lagos-Kano train services, those were suspended because of the increased insecurity in Niger and Kaduna states, routes which the train going from Lagos to Kano passes.
The NRC Managing Director, Fidet Okhiria, said the NRC has not stopped services along the Warri-Itakpe route entirely, rather it will not be stopping at the Ajaokuta station for the foreseeable future.
He added that apart from the Abuja-Kaduna route, the corporation had also suspended services on the Lagos-Kano route because of security concerns.
