A member of the Delta State Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps has been arrested for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl in Warri.
According to a statement on the Facebook page of civil rights activist, Comr. Israel Joe, the suspect identified simply as Efe, raped the teenager inside an uncompleted church building while his three friends watched.
Joe said Efe who is a member of the Delta State Anti-Cult in Warri committed the offence on Thursday 25th March, at about 9:15pm.
According to him, the victim was standing in front of her compound at Apala, Warri with a male friend when the anti cult men arrived.
He said four of the men disembarked from the tricycle they arrived in, and pointed their guns at the man standing close to the girl and dragged the girl into their Keke.
Joe said the girl recounted that the men took her to an uncompleted Redeemed Christian Church of God at Apala where Efe raped, with her shouting for help and the other anti-cult men standing by to watch.
“The guy whom they pointed their guns at, had raised an alarm and police from B Division Warri quickly trailed the suspects and arrested them. We had taken her to the hospital for test which proved the allegation pending justice from the court. The lady was hospitalized but gradually recuperating at the moment” Joe said.
The activist said the DPO B Division Warri, CSP Kelvin Zukumo, had assured that justice would be done in the matter as everyone found wanting would be prosecuted.
