The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad have arrested four notorious traffic robbers around Abiola Gardens area of Ojota, Lagos.
The suspects were said to have made life difficult for early morning commuters along the Mile 12, Ojota, Abiola Gardens, Ketu and Owode Onirin axis of Lagos.
The Commander RRS Lagos, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi disclosed that the four traffic robbers were arrested by the surveillance team of the agency in the early hours of Thursday.
Egbeyemi disclosed that the surveillance team of the agency was deployed to monitor the entire Ikorodu road axis in reaction to a series of complaints of early morning robbery attacks on motorists and commuters.
According to Commander RRS, “Our surveillance team pretended as if their vehicle had mechanical problem early morning (6:30am) beside ‘Abiola Garden’ within 5 minutes these criminals came out with dangerous weapons demanding for their wallets and other valuables before they were all apprehended.”
The suspects include Adewale Ismaila (30yrs), Chinadu Okafor (26yrs), Tote Victor (19yrs) and Abdulahi Olalere a.k.a ‘Orobo’ (20yrs).
One of the arrested suspects, Abdulahi Olalere a.k.a ‘Orobo’ confessed to belonging to a robbery gang that specializes in attacking and robbing innocent motorists of their belongings in the early hours along Ikorodu Road.
He reportedly confessed that his gang was responsible for the early morning robbery operation around China Town and tipper garage, Ketu area of Ikorodu Road on Tuesday, 23rd of March, 2021.
