Ekiti CP, Mobayo Babatunde

The widow of a former Surveyor-General of Ekiti State, Mrs Funmilola Osalusi, who was kidnapped in Ado Ekiti last Saturday, has regained freedom after spending five nights in the den.

The victim was tricked out of her gate about 8 pm last Saturday by the gunmen who took her away.

A source in the family of the kidnapped staff of Ado Local Government, who broke the news of her freedom, said, “She was released yesterday (Thursday) evening and she is very fine now.”

Although the family member was silent on whether ransom was paid or not, sources in the neighbourhood said she was not released for free.

The sources said that the woman was immediately taken to a private hospital in the capital city for treatment.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Ekiti State Police Command, Sunday Abutu, said on Friday, that the woman was released Thursday night.

“The woman has reunited with her family. She was released following efforts made by the combined forces of the police, Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and Vigillante Group of Nigeria in trailing the criminal elements to their hideouts.

“The police and other security outfits upon hearing that the woman was kidnapped, started combing the surrounding forests day and night. We are happy that we got a fruitful result and the woman had been released unhurt,” he said.
