Sound engineer lynched, set ablaze by okada riders following disagreement over N100 change in Lekki
A sound engineer has been killed and set ablaze allegedly by a group of commercial motorcyclists (okada riders) in Lagos following a disagreement over change.
The young man who had a gig at a club on Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, was simply identified as David.
It was learnt that David and his two friends rode on the same okada to the spot the venue of their show and were to collect N100 change, which the motorcyclist declined to give for some reason.
The matter escalated quickly into a huge misunderstanding and fisticuffs. The okada man who was outnumbered soon got the help of his colleagues who are from the same tribe.
They reportedly beat the three guys with all manner of weapons until David became unconscious.
A video of the incident posted on Twitter shows David lying on the floor with a tyre burning on his upper body. His attackers then pour fuel on the fire, causing it to increase.
David’s two friends, Frank (saxophonist) and Philip (keyboardist) escaped death and are currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
Friends of the deceased have gone on Twitter to call for justice.
