AriseTV anchor and former presidential spokesman Reuben Abati promised to share his history in journalism with a lady reporter who repeatedly called him by his first name while filing a live report.
The anchor had invited the reporter, Mary Chinda to file a live report from the airport where Nigerian evacuees from Ukraine had just landed.
Chinda repeatedly prefaced virtually every statement with ‘Reuben’, which the TV anchor found amusing.
He said, “The way you are calling me ‘Reuben, Reuben’, it’s like you were at my naming ceremony when I was born many years ago, but carry on. What’s the situation like over there.” His colleagues in the studio and the lady in question chuckled at that.
He asked a couple of questions and the lady still responded by mentioning his name. When she was done with the reports, Reuben said:
“It’s like you are in love with my name. When I see you, I will tell you some of my history in this profession”.
During the review segment when he brought in AriseTV analyst, Emmanuel Efeni, a quick reference was made to the incident in a banter attended with lots of laughter where Reuben said something about “Mannerless young people” to another bout of laughter.
