Gunmen have abducted a student of Sociology at the University of Ibadan, Emmanuel Odetunde, and are demanding N100m ransom from his family to free him.
The student was abducted when the gunmen broke into his father’s farm in Oke Odan, Apete area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Monday around 5pm.
Reports indicated that four suspected herders stormed the farm and demanded for his father. When the workers told them the father was not around, they kidnapped the son instead.
The victim’s brother, Samuel, said the kidnappers had reached out to the family, demanding a N100m ransom.
He said the amount was too huge for the family to raise.
In a statement, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said that the police “are working alongside other security operatives to ensure that the victim returns safely from the den of his abductors.”
