Sylvester Oromoni: I hope you’ve withdrawn your children from Dowen College – Funke Akindele poses question
Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, has expressed concern over the safety of the children in boarding facilities in Nigeria, even as she asked if parents had withdrawn their children from Dowen College
Recall that a student of Dowen College, Sylvester Oromoni, died late last year in controversial circumstances. The late student allegedly disclosed before he died that he was tortured by some senior students of the school.
The allegations were denied by the students and the school management.
The school has been shut by the state government since the matter blew open.
The chairman of the school board and members stepped down on Friday, weeks after the police cleared five students linked to the death of Oromoni.
The school noted that due to the unfortunate incident, they were reviewing some of their policies to ensure better oversight functions within the school.
Akindele, reacting to the development on her Instagram story, questioned if parents had withdrawn their wards from the school.
Her post read: “I hope all parents have withdrawn their children from the school.
“I’m so worried for children in boarding schools. A lot goes on there.”
