Policemen on Sunday arrested Uche Nwosu, a former governorship candidate in Imo State.
He was arrested at the St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Eziama-Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.
Nwosu is former Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-in-law.
He was picked up during the Outing Service of the victim’s mother, late Jemamah Nwosu about 11: 55 am at the front of St Peter’s Anglican Church in Eziama in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo state.
The men numbering over 10 reportedly shot sporadically in the air before they dragged Nwosu out of the church into a white bus and drove off.
It was initially thought to be a case of kidnapping and was reported as such in the media.
Police later confirmed that they have Uche Nwosu in their custody.
In a statement, Imo Police Command Public Relations Officer, Michael Abattam, said the announcement was to allay fears about his Nwosu’s whereabouts.
Abattam further appealed to the general public “to always shun fake news”.
