Restaurant accused of allowing guests to have sex on tables during covid
My restaurant is cleaner than your mouth- owner fires back at critic
A restaurant in Brazil is facing investigations from authorities after a patron accused it of hosting a sex party amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Staff allegedly had sex on the tables where customers had earlier eaten. A Brazilian Twitter account posted pictures, claiming the event took place at Izakaya Hyotan on Saturday.
The restaurant’s Instagram page posted two cryptic responses which did not deny the claims.
Its owner, Keiji, wrote that he had woken up to a media storm about the claims – and insisted the pictures were not taken recently.
He wrote (translated from Portugese): ‘Come on … those who know me know, I like a mess and sometimes I overdo it. Who doesn’t? First, it is important to clarify that this bar is much cleaner than a lot of dirty mouth who wrote here.
‘And the picture is not current, I was even thinner. ‘Whoever comes in knows that this is my home I receive everyone with open doors, a tight hug and a warm heart’
He added that the bar would be disinfected. In addition, he said two new items would be added to the menu: ‘Suruba de gyosa (gyosa at will until you can’t take it anymore and ask for a roll) and Gastronomic orgy (tasting menu with starter, portion, main course and dessert).’
A day later, he wrote: ‘I’m receiving threats and a lot of people want to see me burning in hell for my sins.
‘I was irresponsible, but believe me, I am not a bad or insensitive person. You know, these photos are old, because they had been circulating in groups on Whatsapp long before all of that … I am willing to commit and learn from the episode and to say vehemently that it will never happen again.
‘As a form of reparation and apology I will make a donation of part of the profit from the new menu item (gastronomic orgy) to help some Covid institution.
‘I ask for forgiveness and commit myself to learn from the mistake.’
The restaurant is in Curitaba in the country’s southern Parana State, and has almost 15,000 Instagram followers.
It was exposed as an alleged sex party venue by the Twitter account Brasil Fede Covid.
The Mirror reported that the Parana State Justice Department said that it is ‘already aware of the facts and is opening an inquiry to investigate what happened.’
