CNN African Voices Changemakers, sponsored by National telecommunications company, Globacom, will this weekend celebrate the Founder and Managing Director of Terra Kulture, Bolanle Austen-Peters.

An award-winning film and theatre director, Austen-Peters holds a Master’s degree  in International Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Earlier, she obtained her first degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

Before venturing into Film and Music world, 52 year-old Austen-Peters worked with her Father’s law firm, Afe Babalola and Co, and at United Nations High Commission for Human Rights in Switzerland before joining the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and the United Nations Development Program.

In 2003, she founded Terra Culture, a Nigerian arts, education and cultural centre, which she runs alongside Nigerian arts and culture centre, also located in Lagos.

The Bolanle Austen Peters Productions popularly known as BAP was created in 2013 and, over the years, it has raised the bar in the nation’s theatre industry.  BAP has produced different musicals, including ‘Saro The Musical’, ‘Wakaa The Musical’, ‘Moremi The Musical’, ‘Fela and the Kalakuta Queens’ and  ‘Fela’s Republic and The Kalakuta Queens’. The musicals received a number of accolades and reviews from international media outfits including Sky and BBC.

She has also produced several films including ‘93 Days’, a feature film on the outbreak of Ebola in Nigeria and ‘Bling Lagosians’. In addition, she’s working towards the expansion of Nigerian theatre through a new project, an online academy.

Globacom advises television viewers to watch African Voices ChangeMakers on the DSTV Channel 401 on Sunday at 12.30 a.m, 4.30 a.m., 7.30 a.m., 12.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m., and  on Monday at 3.00 a.m. and   5.30 a.m.
