The late Ondo-based businessman Akinbolusere Kayode, popularly known as Tolufe, is to be buried today, Friday, November 5, 2026, following a Service of Songs held in his honour yesterday.
The 46-year-old owner of Esther Estate made headlines earlier after taking his own life inside his office in the Igba area of Ondo.
However, newly surfaced audio and video recordings reveal that the late entrepreneur was battling severe emotional turmoil and strain arising from a secretly contracted second marriage, alongside sudden operational setbacks in his business.
In a self-recorded video made shortly before his death, Kayode admitted to maintaining a secret second wife, disclosing that he had acquired a house, a car, and land valued at ₦36 million for her, in addition to financing her father’s burial.
In a poignant plea, he asked that his second wife refrain from bothering his first wife, Adenike Esther, to whom he bequeathed all remaining assets, real estate holdings, and business operations for the upkeep of their three children residing in Canada.
Expressing remorse for taking his first wife’s loyalty for granted after she supported his rise from a humble barber to a prominent estate developer, Kayode lamented “destroying everything through carelessness.”
While police confirmed recovering empty bottles of suspected insecticide at the scene, the deceased’s family continues to allege foul play.
His uncle, Femi Akinbolusere, publicly suggested that Kayode appeared to be under physical coercion off-camera during his final video recording, calling for a comprehensive homicide investigation.
