The Oyo State Police Command has brokered peace between the family and associates of the late gospel singer, Olayemi Bayonle Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, following heated disputes over his burial arrangements.
The intervention came after allegations of conspiracy, defamation of character, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace escalated across social media and public platforms after the singer died on October 14, 2026.
Disturbed by the potential threat to public order, Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Abimbola summoned all conflicting parties to the Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Following the meeting, key stakeholders—including the singer’s widow, Mrs. Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola; his father, Mr. Muniru Olayemi; his personal assistant; and close associates—signed a formal peace undertaking.
Under the terms of the agreement, all parties resolved to immediately cease public exchanges, social media posts, and media interviews regarding the deceased’s passing and burial.
CP Abimbola warned that the command will arrest and prosecute any party, proxy, media platform, or blogger attempting to reignite the conflict or circulate unverified allegations.
He advised members of the public and media outlets to respect the peace accord and exercise restraint.
Gospel singer Lanre Alewilese, a close associate of the late artist, first revealed in a public video that the singer’s widow and her father-in-law had resolved their differences. He confirmed that the initial dispute was treated as a misunderstanding, with both parties settling on Toluwanisings’ residence in Ibadan as his final resting place.
To ensure the resolution remains binding and free of further conflict, the Oyo State Police Command formalised the consensus. Both the widow and the singer’s father signed the peace undertaking under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, clearing the way for the burial plans to proceed smoothly.
