Three unidentified homeless men were shot dead in their sleep at the Post Office Bus Stop along Adeola Odeku Street in Victoria Island, Lagos State.

The violent attack took place on Sunday morning and involved approximately ten destitute individuals resting at the transit stop.

CCTV reveals targeted attack by power bike riders

According to local police sources and eyewitness reports, two assailants arrived at the scene riding power bikes carrying white delivery-style boxes.

After parking across the street, the men crossed over to the sleeping area, inspected the faces of those resting, and engaged the victims in brief conversation before opening fire.

In addition to gunshot wounds, the assailants inflicted severe machete cuts on the victims.

Witnesses noted that one victim pleaded for his life and urged the attackers to resolve their grievances peacefully, but he was shot regardless.

Reports indicate that the three deceased men were recent arrivals to the location, having only joined the group of regulars who sleep at the bus stop shortly before the incident.

Police initiate investigation and seek public help

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the attack after being alerted by a concerned citizen on Sunday morning. Responding anti-crime patrol officers found the victims lying in pools of blood at the scene.

Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi confirmed that the bodies have been evacuated to the Lagos State Government Mainland Hospital in Yaba for autopsy.

Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting preliminary investigations to identify the deceased, trace their family members, and track down the perpetrators using CCTV footage and community tips.
