Fresh details have emerged surrounding the sudden death of Nigerian gospel minister Olayemi Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, as his personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo, shared an account of his final hours.

Speaking in a video interview following the singer’s passing on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Babadunni revealed that the gospel artist was in good health before collapsing unexpectedly.

“He was very fine and in perfect condition. He just slumped,” Babadunni stated as he recalled the sudden medical emergency.

Multiple Ibadan hospitals turned late singer away, PA reveals

The personal assistant recounted a desperate rush to secure emergency medical attention across Ibadan, Oyo State, describing how repeated rejections by healthcare facilities delayed critical treatment.

According to Babadunni, the team visited nearly 10 different medical centres, but were unable to secure immediate treatment due to operational challenges at various facilities:

Hospital rejections: Multiple centres reportedly refused admission or lacked emergency response readiness.

At least one major facility declined treatment on the grounds that its medical personnel were on strike.

The team moved across eight hospitals in Ibadan in a bid to save the artist’s life.

Outpouring of grief continues across gospel music community

Despite continuous prayers and emergency efforts by close associates and family members, the gospel minister was declared dead after failing to receive timely intervention.

“We took him to about 10 hospitals in Ibadan, but God said it was his time,” Babadunni added. “We prayed and prayed, but God said it was his time.”

The revelation has sparked intense public outrage and renewed national debate regarding emergency medical care policies, patient rejection in Nigerian hospitals, and healthcare infrastructure readiness during critical emergencies.
