A Nigerian father, identified on social media as Akaninyene Oton, has shared his heartbreak following the sudden death of his young son, Ufanabasi, just one day after the boy resumed school for the new academic session.

According to the grieving father’s tribute posted on Facebook, young Ufanabasi had recently been recognised and celebrated by his school for his exceptional academic performance during a cultural week event.
The boy attended the school’s official reopening on Monday without showing any signs of illness, making his sudden passing the following day particularly shocking to his family.
“Rest in peace, son,” his father wrote. “Your school celebrated your outstanding performance recently during the cultural week. You attended the reopening of your school on Monday; on Tuesday, you passed on without any sign. I am deeply grieved by your lonely and untimely journey. Farewell, Ufanabasi Akaninyene Oton.”
