Activist VDM places N1m bounty on suspects who stripped two ladies for theft (Video)

Nigerian social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, sparked major public support after offering a cash reward to track down individuals caught on video assaulting and torturing two young women.

The decision followed the circulation of a violent viral clip online depicting a group of young women physically attacking, stripping, and humiliating two ladies. 

While filming the scene, they asked the women to open their legs, and they splashed them with peppered water.

The victims were accused of stealing wigs at an undisclosed location. They were repeatedly questioned about the wig and threatened with violence if they did not confess.

The graphic nature of the footage triggered widespread condemnation across Nigerian digital platforms, with citizens calling for immediate justice.

How the cash bounty accelerated public involvement

In a broadcast shared on his social media handles, Otse expressed outrage over the violence and announced a cash bounty for verified information leading to the identification and location of the perpetrators.

By leveraging his massive online following, the announcement rapidly amplified the public search effort:

Social media tracking: Followers actively analysed the viral video clip to identify local landmarks, social media profiles, and potential leads.

Direct law enforcement engagement: Information gathered through public responses was redirected to police operational units to assist ongoing intelligence gathering.

Police command arrests key suspects following manhunt

Following the intense public scrutiny and intelligence support, state police operatives launched a targeted operation to track down the fleeing suspects.

Authorities subsequently confirmed the arrest of the primary suspects linked to the assault. According to police reports, those involved face serious charges, including:

Physical assault and attempted grievous bodily harm

Cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and illegal recording of non-consensual acts

Abduction and unlawful restraint

Operatives attached to Zone 16 of the Nigeria Police Force, assisted by the local Field Operations Unit (FOU), carried out the operational apprehension of the suspects.
