How fake ‘Made in Nigeria’ Agency infiltrated Federal and State structures

An investigation into the alleged fake “National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office” has raised critical questions regarding how a fake entity managed to embed itself within official government channels across Nigeria.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) revealed that the organisation operated without presidential authorisation despite securing physical office space within the premises of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) in Abuja.
Following the discovery, President Bola Tinubu ordered the immediate arrest of the promoter, Prince George Nwabueze, alongside the suspension of three permanent secretaries—M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare, and Richard P. Pheelangwah.
How Prince Nwabueze George secure state-level partnerships
Despite lacking legal backing, the entity built an extensive footprint by engaging directly with federal and state public institutions:
Abia State: Records show a high-level delegation led by Nwabueze met with Abia State Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, alongside the State Commissioner for Industry and SMEs. The state ministry subsequently partnered with the organisation to plan the “Abia Expo 2026.”
Anambra State: The promoter held strategic planning sessions with the Secretary to the State Government, Chiamaka Nnake, and the Commissioner for Commerce to outline hosting arrangements for the “National Products Expo 2026.”
Federal Ministry Connections: The organisation published materials claiming collaborations with the Federal Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry for a showcase at the World Economic Forum in Davos, as well as joint initiatives with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.
Unanswered enquiries
The organisation operated under the online domain madeinnigeriang.org and maintained official handles on X, Instagram, and Facebook (@pmainpro).
Attempts to reach the management via its published contact phone lines and electronic messaging channels yielded no response.
While the documented meetings and public announcements reflect a high level of institutional penetration, law enforcement agencies noted that the inclusion of public officials in the entity’s materials does not automatically establish their awareness of the organisation’s unauthorised status.
Further updates from the ICPC and the Federal Government remain expected.
