“MC Oluomo, my colleagues saved me” Nollywood star Ronke Oshodi-Oke recounts medical ordeal

Nollywood actress Ibironke Ojo, popularly recognised as Ronke Oshodi-Oke, has opened up about her recent battle with a severe health condition, highlighting the massive financial strain and the surprising wave of support she received during the crisis.
Speaking on the experience, the screen star detailed the high cost of her treatment, revealing that she spent up to ₦800,000 monthly on prescription medications alone.
Surprise reconciliation and assistance
Beyond the financial weight, Oshodi-Oke shared an unexpected moment of kindness from fellow actress Sotayo Gaga.
Despite an ongoing personal rift that had kept the two from communicating for over five years, Sotayo reached out with financial assistance upon learning of her colleague’s condition.
“Sotayo and I hadn’t spoken in about five or six years over a minor dispute,” Oshodi-Oke recounted. “We were not on talking terms, but as soon as she heard about my illness, she sent me ₦150,000.”
She noted that while their formal relationship remains distant, the gesture left a lasting impact.
Oshodi-Oke extends appreciation
The actress extended appreciation to former transport union boss MC Oluomo and various film industry colleagues who rallied around her to ensure her medical costs were covered.
Addressing her personal journey during the crisis, Oshodi-Oke also reflected on joining the Celestial Church of Christ during the peak of her health struggles, clarifying that her spiritual choices do not diminish her respect for other religious faiths.
