A 38-year-old Nigerian-Australian citizen, Foluso Omole, has been arrested in Australia for his alleged involvement in a $5 million fraud targeting the country’s National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Federal authorities intercepted Omole at Adelaide Airport on Friday, August 14, 2026, as he was reportedly preparing to board a one-way flight to Nigeria.

Allegations of improper access and money transfers

Appearing in court on Monday, August 17, 2026, prosecutors outlined how Omole allegedly obtained sensitive information improperly from an employee inside the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

He is accused of using the compromised data to illegally secure NDIS financial benefits.

Investigators revealed that Omole, who operated two independent businesses alongside his role as an NDIS coordinator, funnelled a substantial portion of the fraudulent proceeds directly to accounts in Nigeria, where his wife lives.

Bail denied due to flight risk

Omole currently faces two counts of dealing with the proceeds of crime valued at more than $1 million.

During the court proceedings, prosecutors successfully opposed his release, arguing that his attempt to board an international flight demonstrated a significant risk of absconding.

The presiding magistrate denied bail, keeping him in custody. Omole has not yet entered an official plea to the charges.
